Can anyone please advise me if the details below, taken from system
information in XP Pro sp3, are showing that half of the physical memory is
either used by something else, or actually faulty.

Total Physical Memory 1,024.00 MB
Available Physical Memory 496.08 MB
Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB
Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB
Page File Space 2.36 GB
Page File C:\pagefile.sys

Thanks
Bob

the amount of physical
memory in use can be
seen via the task manager.

press alt ctrl del then
go to processes tab.

under the menu bar
above, you can add
more columns with
more details for the
processes.

in addition to the processes
taking their allocations of
physical memory,

don't forget that some of
that memory is also
reserved for your graphics.

You have 1 gigabyte of memory. 496.08 is available (can be loaded) The
remaining is loaded with programs.
